The Alachua County Environmental Protection Department has a mission to support a community ethic of environmental resiliency and responsible environmental stewardship of the water, air, and living resources in Alachua County. We’re ordinary people working together to serve the community by optimizing the balance between natural systems and people. We work with community members to protect, preserve and restore our natural resources and to ensure that Alachua County continues to be a clean and beautiful place to live.
What We Do
The Environmental Protection Department provides natural resources protection to the citizens of Alachua County through:

- Land conservation, acquisition, and management
- Environmental planning
- Environmental review
- Environmental code enforcement

- Hazardous materials management
- Petroleum contamination clean up
- Storage tank compliance inspections
