Do you want to help prevent hazardous chemicals from polluting the environment? If soo... Consider volunteering at the Alachua County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center. We utilize volunteers for a variety of tasks at the Leveda Brown Environmental Park location that aid in our mission of pollution prevention and community outreach and education. Hours: M-F 8am-5pm Sat 8am-12pm Tasks Include: Unloading citizen vehicles, pouring out waste paint, organizing reuse shelves, unloading and sorting material carts, general housekeeping, answering citizen questions about the Leveda Brown environmental park (solid waste, recycling, and household hazardous waste). Benefits include: greater knowledge about recycling and disposal practices, gain customer service skills through educating the public, earn documented community service hours for school and scholarships.
